"Manga " is the Japanese word referring to comics and print cartoons while ‘Suki’ literally means like. When combined together, it simply means “We Love Comic”. Though manga has been long created and gained popularity worldwide, it has only recently become the craze in Malaysia.

To drum up the frenzy for comic among those who practically live and breathe comic, The One Academy will gather 20 talented local artists and manga lovers to showcase more than 60 pieces of brilliant comics and comic arts at the Comic & Art Exhibition 2007.

Not only will the exhibition open your eyes to impressive manga pieces, you will also witness a live demonstration on ‘Rendering Comic Art Digitally’ by our Illustration tutor Beatrice Tan. Beatrice recently makes name for herself through her own developed manga artworks which she posted onto an online art forum deviantart.com. and is more popularly known as Kid Chan to her manga fans from far and near, such as Germany, Spain, the US, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Manga lovers will also be enlightened by Benny Wong at a talk titled ‘Malaysia Comic’. More popularly known as Ben, he is an internationally recognised local manga artist who prevailed as the runner-up at the International Manga Award Japan.

Besides, unveil the ingenious and genuine manga works by The One Academy students at the Manga Suki Contest, which put their creativity and innovation to the test. The prize-giving ceremony will be held on 24th of November with prizes sponsored by GrandTech Systems Sdn. Bhd, one of Asia’s leaders in distributing professional communications software and hardware; and Wacom, the world’s largest manufacturer of digital tablets and pens.

A Comic Bazaar will further stir up the entire comic & art exhibition, which features streaks of publications and art products by The One Academy students at The One Gallery, creating a convenient platform for manga lovers to seek relevant helpful materials.
